You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…
from Oh, the Places You’ll Go! By Dr. Seuss

Stepping out after months of planning!

Best Friends, Lauren DiMarco, Photography, Relationships

© Lauren DiMarco

Everyone has a “best friend” during each stage of life – only the precious few have the same one.

In the summer before starting high school, a girl with a charming British accent moved into the house across the street from me. We were inseparable for three years – pouring over Seventeen magazines, sewing matching outfits, and attending Canadian Girl in Training classes.

I wish we had kept in touch.

Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it’s an ache I still remember.
lyrics from Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye

We are now just points on each other’s timelines.

Faith in You, Love, Photography, Randy Travis, Relationships

The more I search for my significance,
Seems the more I disappear.
And I wonder, have I made a difference in anybody’s life
Since I’ve been here.
And I can hear your laughter
It’s the sweetest sound I’ve ever known
I don’t know how love happens,
But I know I’ not alone.
And I do have faith in you.
lyrics from Faith in You by Randy Travis

I have always had your back, too.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning, If Thou Must Love Me, Love, Photography, Poetry, romance, Tea time

© Joan Currie

If thou must love me, let it be for naught
Except for love’s sake only. Do not say,
‘I love her for her smile – her look – her way
Of speaking gently, – for a trick of thought
That falls in well with mine, and certes brought
A sense of pleasant ease on such a day’ –
For these things in themselves, Beloved, may
Be changed, or change for thee – and love,
so wrought.
from If Though Must Love Me by Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Surely after all these years our love is transcendent.

If love should come,
Against him would I dare to bar the door,
And, unregretful, bid him come no more?
from the poem If Love Should Come by Lucy Maud Montgomery

Something to believe in
for even a night
One night may be forever
but that’s alright, that’s alright
And if you’re gone tomorrow
what was ours still will be
I have something to believe in
now that I know you believed in me.
from Something to Believe In – Newsies the musical

I am glad that I had your love – even for just a little while.

Love can not fill the thickened lung with breath,
Nor clean the blood, nor set the fractured bone;
Yet many a man is making friends with death
Even as I speak, for lack of love alone.
from Love Is Not All by Edna St. Vincent Millay

Hold me, kiss me, love me…
